Facts

Hairy honeysuckle is a native, vining or trailing shrub which is notable for being covered with glandular hairs. This primarily northern species inhabits rich, rocky slopes on calcareous (marble or limestone) bedrock. In New England, it occurs in far western Massachusetts (where it is listed as endangered) and Vermont. The leaves are oval, and the yellow, sticky flowers bloom in a whorl on a stalk above the uppermost pair of leaves, which are united into a disc. Flowers bloom in mid- to late June, maturing into red berries.
