Facts

Thyme-leaved speedwell consists of two subspecies. One of them (Veronica serpyllifolia ssp. humifusa) is native to New England, while the other (V. serpyllifolia ssp. serpyllifolia) is introduced from Europe.

Subspecies humifusa is native and known from ME, NH, VT; also reported from MA by Sorrie and Somers (1999), but specimens are unknown. Subspecies serpyllifolia is non-native and known from CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT. Subspecies humifusa is relatively northern and sometimes ascends to moderate elevation. Though it normally occurs in cleared areas (e.g., logging roads, pastures), it sometimes occurs within intact forests.
