Alopecurus

See list of 5 species in this genus

A genus sometimes confused with Phleum. In addition to unawned glumes and awned lemmas, Alopecurus has appressed-ascending spikelets. Phleum, on the other hand, has awned glumes, unawned lemmas, and spreading to reflexed spikelets (except for the apical ones, which are ascending). Reference: Crins (2007).
