  • 1a. Lemmas hispid with hairs (0.2–) 0.4–0.8 (–0.9) mm long [Fig. 195], the body 
(0.8–) 1.1–1.5 (–1.8) mm wide, with conspicuous veins, the midvein much more prominent 
than the lateral veins; anthers 3.3–6 mm long; ligules 2–3.5 mm long
  • 1b. Lemmas glabrous or minutely scabrous with hairs 0.08–0.14 (–0.2) mm long [Fig. 194], the body (0.7–) 0.8–1.2 (–1.4) mm wide, with weak veins of equal prominence; anthers 2–3.5 mm long; ligules 1.8–2.5 mm long
