  • 1b. Plants perennial; larger leaf blades commonly 3- to 5-lobed, with broad and open sinuses, gland-dotted on the abaxial surface; carpellate spikes with entire-margined bracts that are broad and conceal the fruits [Fig. 542]; anthers glandular
